How often to post on TikTok

The posting frequency that works on TikTok depending on your stage (starting out, format found, established account, relaunch), why consistency matters more than volume, and how to keep the pace.

"Post 3 times a day" on one side, "quality over everything" on the other. Both are wrong in the same way: they give you a number without looking at where you are. Here's the real rule, the frequency that works depending on your stage, and why consistency matters more than volume.

The rule: the highest pace you can hold for 3 months

The algorithm doesn't reward accounts that post a lot, it rewards accounts that come back. An account that posts 3 times a week for 3 months beats an account that posts twice a day for 10 days and then stops. So the question isn't "how many" but "how many, without burning out".

Depending on your stage

Your stageFrequency that worksWhy
You're starting out (0-1,000 followers)1 a day for 30 days, short videosYou're looking for your format. More videos = more tests = you find it faster.
You've found your format3-5 a weekEnough to stay present, enough time to polish each video.
You're established (10,000+)2-4 a week + video repliesYour audience follows you; quality and series matter more than frequency.
Stalled account1 a day for 14 days (relaunch)You need to prove yourself to the algorithm again. Then go back to a sustainable pace.

At the start, a high frequency has only one goal: finding what works, fast. As soon as you see a format taking off, slow down and dig into it.

Posting several times a day: yes, but

  • Leave at least 3-4 hours between posts: two videos posted back to back cannibalize each other on the first test.
  • Keep your best video for your best window (see the article on the best time to post).
  • If the second video is "filler", don't post it: a string of flops shrinks the size of your next tests.

How consistent are you, really?

The analysis measures the regularity of your last 30 videos (gaps, holes, pace): it's a 3-point criterion of your score. Free, 30 seconds.

How to keep the pace without it eating your life

Batch

Shoot 5 videos in one afternoon, edit the next day, publish across the week. One setup, one dose of "camera energy". That's what separates the people who last 6 months from those who last 3 weeks.

Keep an idea bank

A note on your phone where you dump every idea, interesting comment, question people ask you. On the day with no inspiration, you pick from it. The goal: always 10 ideas ahead.

Reuse

A video that worked = a part 2, a reply to the comments, a variation with another angle. You don't need a new idea per video, you need one idea that works spun into three.

What if you take a break?

Two weeks without posting and your next videos restart from a smaller test. It's not a punishment, it's just that the algorithm has no fresh signal anymore. Come back with 5-7 short videos close together on your main topic, and it picks up again. Don't "fix" a break by posting 5 videos on the same day.

Key takeaways

  • The right pace = the highest one you can hold for 3 months. Consistency > volume.
  • Starting out: 1/day for 30 days to find your format; then 3-5/week.
  • Batching, an idea bank, variations: that's what makes the pace sustainable.
